Paddles

Paddles
The paddles of the Northwest Coast Indigenous peoples varied in style depending on each cultural group. These paddles were carved or painted to fit the tapering shape of the paddle, while the steering paddle had a more broad shape that was equally painted. The paddles were generally made out of yew wood for its strength and durability but yellow and red cedar was also commonly used.
