Eagle, Cheif, Bear with shield Totem Pole This hand carved totem pole by Fred Trout includes a bear holding a shield, and a Eagle on top. This totem pole is carved from a red cedar tree and is 6 feet tall. Fred Trout is a young Tlingit man who resides in Saxman, Alaska, a native village south of Ketchikan.Fred has been carving since a very young age.He has apprenticed under very well known carvers such as Nathan Jackson, also from Saxman.He has developed his skills with much hard work.As he has grown he has passed them onto other carvers.Fred spends much of his time now teaching when he is not carving.
