Large Eskimo Fan Dancer This Fossil Whalebone piece is hand carved by Tony Weyiouanna, an Inupiaq native of Shishmaref, Alaska. It includes inlaid baleen and walrus ivory details, with a whale carved into the front. The fans are made from Caribou tuft. Tony began carving at the age of fifteen.His mentors were his father, Stephen, and several other elders in his village.This piece is made from a large shoulder bone of the bowhead whale.
