Small Loon This loon is hand carved from walrus ivory by Inupiaq artist Larry Mayac. Larry started carving ivory when he was 13 years old.His father, George, and grandmother, Theresa Mayac, taught him how to carve.When not working on the Alaska pipeline, Larry carves ivory.Arctic and common loons are his specialty.He also carves killer, humpback, sperm, and bowhead whales, and an occasional puffin.
